Finding out about kilnworks studio pottery
Kilnworks studio pottery
Has been in development for many years and my work has been online in one form or another since 1998. But you are reading this page, so you must be interested in discovering more about kilnworks studio pottery and handmade ceramic tableware.
Who is kilnworks?
All the studio pottery
On display on this website is designed and created by Helen Harrison. Kilnworks studio pottery recently re-located to the South Hams - a region of South Devon, sitting South of Dartmoor, East of Plymouth and South West of Torbay, it contains lovely towns and villages such as Salcombe, Kingsbridge and Bigbury.
I attended South Notts College in 1985, where I studied BTEC Art & Design. In 1990 I focused my education and undertook a degree in ceramics at Loughborough College of Art. My education came to fruition in 1993 when I was offered a place on the Royal College of Art ceramics MA course.
What are my influences?
I have been fortunate
To study under some of the most influential studio potters and ceramic makers in the world and many of them continue to be the greatest influence on my work. Throughout my education I was encouraged to explore and research historical and modern pottery. I found myself particularly drawn to the modern traditions of studio pottery, which seemed to have more relevance to my own aspirations as a potter and what I wanted to achieve with ceramic tableware in particular.
